Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by I Don't Know W — 29 Jul 2011
This is a film of iconic scenes and fabulous performances. It's hard to say which of the cast members steals the show as all five of the leads play off of each other, playing to each others level to produce one of the finest ensemble performances on screen. Frank Sinatra is absolutely brilliant, fully deserving his Oscar for his performance. The rest of the cast is equally fantastic and it doesn't hurt that both Burt Lancaster and Montgomery Clift look fantastic.
From Here to Eternity is wonderfully paced and covers all major genres successfully, from comedy to drama and action to romance. With on point direction and a wonderful script it's no wonder this is an American classic.
