Review of Fright Night (1985) by Marc L — 08 Sep 2010
This film is my childhood!!
I remember watching this film with my best friend when we were oo young to technically be allowed to watch it, but we both enjoyed it for what it is.. a vampire film that doesnt take itself too seriously but clearly has done its background check on other horrors i.e the hammer horror collection, you just have to look at the name Vincent Price (surelydoesnt need explaining there).
This film is pure 80's (in a good way) down from the special effects to the soundtrack, I think sadly you have to be an 80's person to appreciate just how good this film is as the 90's brought along ridiculous special effects that have taken over cinema, this was made with the same sort of swagger you'd expect from sam raimi.
im willin to give the remake a chance but it'll never hold a plac in my heart like the original.
