Review of Fright Night (1985) by Ken S — 08 Oct 2011
Sure, there are a couple of things that don't make sense - why.
(SPOILER).
Does Evil Ed turn into a werewolf? Can vampires do that somehow? And what about Billy Cole, is he a zombie or something? How can he go out during the daytime if he's a vampire, or something?
But aside from that, it's a fun romp and has some genuine scares, mostly through Chris Sarandon's wonderfully deadpan AND over the top performance. And Roddy McDowall is a big asset as Peter Vincent. Made extra campy by some VERY 80's synth-pop, mostly when they go into the nightclub and Sarandon is there to do a sensual dance with Amanda Bearse.
