THIS PRODUCTION HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN! Google Friday the 13th 2017. Rings and other reboots haven't made money and have had terrible reviews (although, all of them had been terrible). So right now it's a no go.
IN my opinion they are 2 different genres of horror. Friday the 13th is a slasher flick and if they could update it with a smart script and twist I think ppl would see it because "good" horror movies are doing really well right now (Get Out, Don't Breathe, etc).
