Review of Frida (2002) by Marko K — 07 Apr 2013
It took Salma Hayek over 7 years to find a director to take on this project and make a biopic of artist Frida, one of the most fascinating persons of 20th Century. Oscar nominee Salma is just great, she gave performance of career and brought to screen one great character.
...tough and stuborn but still emotional and just beautuful. But the bigest praise have to go to Julie Taymor and her visual style.....recreating Frida's art work into scenes and using all the visuals to express what words can not.
Costumes, set, make-up are just gorgeous and burst in colors just like Frida used to. And of course, Taymor's life partner Elliot Goldenthal composed one of the most interesting soundracks in last 15 years.
