Review of Frida (2002) by Oscar S — 22 Feb 2015
For once, a very succesful biopic of a fascinating woman. It contains an excellent overview of Frida Kahlo's life as an artist, activist, strong woman, etc. I was particularly impressed by the way many of her famous paintings were intertwined with the flow of the movie through the use of surreal collages and tableaus; this also helped to tie the paintings to some key moments in her life the must have served as inspiration for the different works.
The only negative point I've noticed is that the extent of Frida's leg and back injuries might have been downplayed a bit by Hayek, who is otherwise very good as Frida.
