Review of Freejack (1992) by Nikolai E — 23 Aug 2008
Clearly lacking the funds to be the cyberpunk fantasy it aspires to, and made about four years too late to be any kind of cultural touchstone, it amounts to a ripoff of Johnny Mnemonic with a bit less ambition and a tad better pacing.
But just when I thought the film didn't have anything else to give, it ends with a surprisingly satisfying effects sequence that still looks great today. It doesn't save the film by any means, but the sound of Anthony Hopkins saying "welcome to my mind" is something I'm glad I got to hear.
