It's easy to see why some fans of the series were annoyed with the sequels when you watch this one...happy-go-lucky freddy is pretty dang annoying. but anyway, this movie isn't a total bomb. it provides a neat little background of freddy and the town he terrorized.
..the movie's worth a watch because of the backstory...but if you're not interested in that, then I wouldn't bother watching this one. it's the weakest one in the series.
