Review of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991) by Zachary I — 09 Oct 2013

Although the title of the movie is Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare, this is not the final Nightmare film and this is easily the worst Nightmare film in the series (behind the remake). Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare stars Robert Englund, Lisa Zane, Shon Greenblatt, Lezlie Deane, and Rick Logan and the movie is directed by Rachel Talalay.

The movie has no story and the only plot you get is that Freddy is killing more people and his daughter has to stop him. This movie literally has no story at all and the story you do get is poorly executed.

The acting in the movie isn't very good either. The actors just looked bored and the characters they play aren't good either. The only actor that tries is of course Robert Englund. Robert Englund does a great job as Freddy Krueger and he's one of the only good things about this movie.

Freddy is so comedic in this movie that he goes more overboard than he did in Part 5. The kills in the movie are also very weak although there is one good kill. Freddy kills this one kid named Carlos by piercing his eardrum and giving him new ears that are super sensitive to sound and then Freddy gets a chalkboard and scrapes his glove on the board making Carlos' head to explode.

The most ridiculous kill is when Freddy kills a kid with the Power Glove. He kills a kid by using a video game console accessory which I thought was hilarious. That was also good product placement for Nintendo at the time.

The special effects in the movie are very weak compared to the other films. By the way, the movie was New Line Cinema's first 3-D movie and the 3-D is awful. If you buy the DVD of the movie, it comes with 3-D glasses and nothing pops out.

3-D stinks in my opinion and this movie only has 3-D at the end of the movie. This movie has so many problems. First off, I hate the comedic tone of the movie. The movie is a comedy instead of a horror movie like Nightmare was originally where it was more scary than funny.

I also hate the dream sequences more. They are way too cheesy and not scary at all. The acting is also very weak although it seems like the actors tried their hardest. I also think the special effects are very weak as well.

The kills are also too cheesy. I also do not like the dream sequences that much. There are two good things about the movie. The first thing is Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger. Robert Englund always does a great job as Freddy Krueger and no matter how bad the movie is he is always the best thing.

The second thing is there are some good cameos by Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, Tom Arnold, and Roseanne Barr. Either than those two things, Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare is a terrible slasher flick and easily the second worst Nightmare to date.

This movie has nothing good about it(expect Robert Englund and good cameos) and I don't recommend this movie at all. Skip this movie at all cost and it's not the final Nightmare film. It's the same thing they did Friday the 13th with Part 4 and Part 9 with those movies being called The Final Chapter and The Final Friday.
