Review of Freddy vs. Jason (2003) by Larry M — 14 Dec 2010

Ronny Yu does a good job on the fight scenes,Jason is like a brain-damaged samurai and Freddy fights like a maniac ninja.The best sequel to either franchise,it focuses on some of the better sub plots of both series.(The Hypnocil from dream warriors,Jason's quest to avenge his mother).

Robert Englund puts in one of his best performances as the gloved "bastard son of a 100 maniacs".The demon Freddy make up with the pointed teeth and contacts was a nice way to convey his rage.Jason gets plenty of kills,the rave scene was great.But the highlight for me was Jason's nightmare,where Freddy really screws with his head.The showdown at the end is worth the wait,has all the energy of a Kung-fu movie.People who arent fans of these movies will probably hate it,but for me this is both series going out with a bang(before descending into remake hell).
