Review of Freaked (1993) by Luc L — 04 Sep 2012
This is a cult film that become very popular on VHS and on TV showings, since it was barely released by 20th Century Fox in theaters. I think "Fox" didn't know what they had with this movie.
In some ways, the wild out of control humour was before "South Park" and others. It is a bizarre fantasy comedy that works very well, since it was ahead of its time. Winter, who co-wrote and co-directed the feature.
Who best known for the "Bill and Ted" movies and he directed an effective thriller titled "Fever". He is also fun to watch as the lead playing a sleazy Hollywood actor. But he is surrounded by an amusing supporting cast like Quaid, Ward, Stoyanov (Best known for TV's Blossom), William Sadler, Bobcat Goldthwait, Mr.
T, Brooke Shields and an amusing bit part by Keanu Reeves as Dogboy. Imaginative make-up effects and excellent production design by future director Catherine Hardwick (The Lords of Dogtown, Thirteen, Twilight) are also the highlights of this something brilliant comedy, it is something also of a parody as well.
Certainly worth a look.
