Review of Freaked (1993) by Matthew K — 04 Feb 2014
Back in the early 90?s MTV used to actually show music videos; however inbetween the music videos they?d also show little 2 minutes sketches produced by a group calling themselves ?The Idiot Box?. The show starred Alex Winter an actor known only for playing Bill in the ?Bill and Ted? movies.
After a while they decided to make a movie and watch came from it was Freaked. Freaked is a movie that many will hate; other people will be offended but if you?re the type of person who likes a movie that?s humor is completely on a different plain than anything you?ve ever seen before.
The film tells the story of an actor (an obvious self parody of Alex Winter?s lack of a career) who goes to Central America in order to collect some illegal nuclear waste. Instead he winds up bumping into a Freak Show owner (Randy Quaid) and is mutated in part of the freak show (consisting of Keannu Reeves as a Dog Boy, Mr.
T as the Bearded Lady and Bobcat Goldthwatt as the Sockhead). For people who like Mr. show and other bizarre offensive humor Freaked is a film for you.
