Review of Frank (2014) by Brian G — 12 Mar 2015
There's a lot that could be discussed about this film, but I'll just touch on a few things: they finally nailed it as far as soundtrack goes (for an indie/experimental band). I didn't necessarily love the music, but it was interesting and felt realistic - usually the music is generic in some way. Note: the final scene is fantastic - it moved me - enjoyed the song as well. I feel like this movie is about the other reasons that people make music, that is so often forgotten or not talked about: therapy (mental illness), because you enjoy it, because you feel like you have to, because it brings weirdos together, etc.. Lastly, this film really is not funny, imo. Sure, maybe a scene or two, but when it goes for laughs, it tries too hard. The red-headed kid (sorry, forget his name): I get why he gets casted. He has a certain charm - and range - but he often over-acts for my taste.
I'll stop there. Just a few observations, y'all.
