Review of Frailty (2012) by Matthew K — 09 Sep 2009
This drama-horror movie is a monumental success in all things that should fail. Religious undertones that don't slap any denomination in the face? Child actors that do a good job? Great direction, interesting transitions, and great lighting techniques from a first time director? Matthew McConaughey not sucking chode?
Yes Frailty does all of that and it does it good. The story is solid, and I love movies that don't come out and tell you everything at the end. If you don't like movie's where when the credits roll you still have a few questions then stay away from this one. It's solid, and the story is tight, but it doesn't just say "by the way, this happens because of this" but its all there for you to decipher.
Excellent film, the only real problem with is the low budget, which sometimes shows in the film style itself.
This is a horror film, and several people die, but the gore level is at a dire minimum. So if you want gore then this isn't for you. This is cinematic, atmospheric horror at its finest.
