The subtleties of marital communication problems are rarely the focus of a film. Such issues usually take the form of an escalating misunderstanding, unfaithfulness or some huge mistake on the part of the spouse.
What is so refreshing about Force Majeure, is that this could happen to any of us. The film focuses on uncomfortable marital truths, a tense conflict of gender roles and how the littlest of things are responsible for unraveling relationships.
