Review of Forbidden Planet (1956) by Louise D — 01 Jan 2018
A deserved classic of science fiction. The effects are barely dated at all, still striking and (almost) convincing, with a delightful 50s aesthetic. The electronic score is fabulously atonal and evocative.
As for the plot and philosophy, you can't do better than nicking off Shakespeare and Freud.
