Review of Forbidden Planet (1956) by Mike L — 08 Jul 2009
Aside from the 50's theme and set this was and is a very powerful Sci-Fi movie. Forget the flying saucers, the robot, and the distant planet this was all about psychology and Freud. Remember that the monster comes from the dreams and is called an "id monster." Considering that a father and his daughter were living on this planet for many years, the id monster is made even more monstrous by the insinuations.
One of the quality 50's Sci-Fi movies made during it time.
