Review of Forbidden games (2015) by Benoît R — 18 May 2010
Extremely moving French film directed by Rene Clement. A little girl's parents just got killed by an air attack in the middle of WWII and the girl, Paulette, is taken in by a poor farming family. She befriends the yungest son in the family, Michel, and they build a place for them to stay to get away from the outside world.
Though it seems like a simple story, it's told very well and has a lot of deep meaning to it. The two young stars are perfect in it, if only there were child actors like that today. The ending is very moving and just perfect.
A great film and a deserved early Foreign Film winner at the Oscars.
