Brigette Fossey is Paulette, a recently orphaned 5 year old girl in war time France. She is reluctantly adopted by a peasant family and lovingly cared for by Michele, the 11 yr old son. Together they deal with death and religion as seen thru the eyes of innocence.
The 2 of them light up the screen, an astonishing tour de force by such young actors. Haunting, poignant, and liberally laced with welcome humour, one of the most beautiful and heart wrenching movies I've ever seen.
