Review of For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) by Christopher S — 02 Jun 2008
I think one of the quotes in the beginning of this documentary is the most poignant. "A fifth grade interpretation of the Bible is fine. If you are a fifth grader." I would agree completely with that sentiment. Many many Christians take what they hear at face value without actually doing the research.
However, that doesn't touch this documentary as a creation. It is a good, interesting documentary. Not the best I have seen, but definitely something that I would recommend if you are interested in seeing homosexuality in the Christian tradition and how it is handled by different people. It sheds light on a people group that is rarely heard from.
Also, there was something that felt very much like it was preaching to the choir. Nobody who disagrees with this film is going to go out of their way and watch it. In fact, they will probably bash it without even knowing what it is truly like. (For example, Jesus Camp.).
