Review of For Me and My Gal (1942) by Marie M — 04 Jan 2010
Underrated and understated for most of the way, it suffers a bit under Kelly's overambitious redemption act, an unmitigated result of then war-time sentiments. Still, the chemistry between the leads is better than anything Fred Astaire stirred up with Ginger Rogers, and their dance duet to the title song is absolutely charming.
