Review of For Love of the Game (1999) by Robert C — 26 Oct 2009
This is my favorite baseball movie. Sam Raimi did an excellent job of directing. The movie is not quite as good as the book, but they still share many of the key elements. This movie is about the realization that everyone must face when they pass from the world of youth to the world of middle age.
To look in the mirror one day and know that you are no longer young. Then to accept the fact that things will never be as they once were. You must then "clear the mechanism" and start over.
