Review of For a Few Dollars More (1965) by Joe H — 23 Jan 2010
Probably has the best pacing of any of the "Man With No Name" films, and puts the fantastic on-screen chemistry between Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef to better use than any of the other films as well.
The scene where the two bounty hunters first meet in a standoff of intimidation, complete with boot scuffing and long-range hat-shooting, remains one of the greatest moments in Leone's entire trilogy.
Their uneasy partnership offers a great backbone for the film, and I have to admit that it's nice to see the two of them on the same side for once. I will say that it's hard to pick a favourite film by Leone, but if I was forced, this might be it, simply because there wasn't a single moment where my interest was lost.
