Review of For a Few Dollars More (1965) by Ross B — 20 Feb 2011
Not so much a sequel to A Fistful of Dollars, but another tale of the Man With No Name. This time our titular hero (Clint Eastwood) is a bounty hunter on the trail of a famed criminal who has escaped from prison named El Indio (Gian Maria Volont).
While on his trail, he discovers that another bounty hunter named Col. Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef) is trying to catch him as well. The two team up in order to bring this man to justice and collect the large reward.
Eastwood is pitch perfect as always in these movies and Cleef is great as the other bounty hunter who is in it for different reasons. Volont is great as the absolutely crazy yet brilliant villain. Sergio Leone once again creates beautiful landscapes and stunning visual shots that are breathtaking.
The dialogue is also very good and there is a dry wit to script that shines through. Just a fantastic film that holds up to the first part in the trilogy.
