Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Scott H — 06 Sep 2016
The acting is good, especially and surprisingly from Hugh Grant, but it essentially asks the viewer to be entertained by the absurdity of Meryl Streep's character but then calls out everyone in the movie who does the same and paints them as villains.
Perhaps more troubling though is its lack of plot, which makes for a long movie when it's hard to sympathize with Grant or relate to Streep. It's funny in parts, but otherwise it's a bad film boosted by a talented cast.
