Review of Flirting with Disaster (1996) by Brett L — 24 Nov 2010
Pretty good movie. It's wacky and quirky and shit. Sometimes TOO wacky and quirky for its own good, to the point where it gets in the way of Mel's storyline of trying to find out what his real identity is, which could have been a very effective storyline if handled with a little more care.
I can't say I blame David Russell for taking the path he did however, since it was probably a funnier movie that way. Not that this movie is hilarious, there's some hilarity sprinkled throughout the movie but it's never consistent.
I don't mean to shit on the movie, quite frankly I enjoyed it and I did laugh at the absurdity of it all. The cast is great though. They're the highlight of the movie. I don't really know what else to say, it's a movie I watched and I was done with it.
But if you want a crazy movie with wacky characters then this is the move for you. Plus it was free on demand, so that's ALWAYS a positive.
