Review of Flirting with Disaster (1996) by Kyle M — 12 Oct 2014
Flirting with Disaster is an excellent sophomore effort from director David O. Russell, in which we see the director further cement his signature style. While holding its own as a dark comedy, the film furthers the trend of Russell examining human relationships between people with psychological issues, this film in particular focusing on the neurosis of Ben Stiller's character.
Josh Brolin and Mary Tyler Moore deliver delightful supporting performances and the screenplay is, as is today generally expected of Russell, original and wonderfully written.
