Review of Flight of the Red Balloon (2007) by Suzzane Z — 06 May 2009
In his past life, Hou Hsiao Hsien must have been French, and Juliet Binoche being Chinese =). HHH's opaqueness and vintage portrait of a grimy and claustrophobic Paris is glamourless but still so inspiring, those languidly beautiful shots.
The red balloon motif recur at the right moments to punctuate the mood of the film, and you will just love the ending song.
