Review of Flashdance (1983) by Gremlin B — 29 Jul 2013
Some things that I like and not so much. You find out that she is 18, I thought maybe she was at least in her 20s. Young to be working as a bar dancer, thought first her character was that sort of independent&confident in some ways it is and not really.
Although, I liked that she was a welder not afraid to do a males work while still being feminine. Than shifted into her dating her boss who is in his late 30s and looks almost 40 which made me cringe.
He was still seen his ex-wife. Than of course he helps her get an audition, would have preferred seen her make that move by herself. Either way its not a bad movie, its just little things that change your views on the movie that disappoint but no character or story is perfect.
It has that typical mainstream same story line, were it makes it seem like the female character is confidence in herself but really isn't. She has to dependent on a male for her to move forward in life.
