Review of Flashdance (1983) by Norm D — 22 Aug 2017
Poor plot. Flat. Predictable. Soundtrack vehicle. Now that its flaws have been listed, let's look at its virtues. If 'Flashdance' is not, under any biased criteria, a good film, it's not aiming to be one, and nobody watches 'Flashdance' for dazzling cinematography, but to lay its eyes on gorgeous choreography, and to listen to an inspirational score sung by Cara.
Besides, Beals's performance also makes the film tolerable. I'd say that it's an interesting reflect of the 80's, for better or for worse.
