Its look and cast suggest Band of Brothers/Saving Private Ryan and, like that movie, its attempts to tug heartstrings seems like mawkish propaganda designed to remind the American public that there was a time when the people of the US were resolutely behind their armies as opposed to the embarrassment they now feel at the exploits of Bush and co.
Eastwood restrains the gung-ho but offers nothing new in the genre. 2 stars for the CGI.
