Review of Five Easy Pieces (1970) by Mark M — 01 Aug 2005
Enjoyable with great performances, but overrated, understandably so. Jack Nicholson plays a brilliant piano player who quits his day job and goes on a ?quest to find himself.? On the way, he visits his estranged family and falls in love with his brother?s girl. It might have been great for its time, but it doesn?t hold with age, as many classics do. Obviously the basis for future films such as Lost in Translation, which I felt was also overrated. I respect the film, but I didn?t love it..
