Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by John T — 23 Jul 2008
Brain Sweeney Fitzgerald or Fitzcarraldo to the locals dreams of building a grand opera house in the Peruvian jungle. After unsucessful ventures in the railroad and ice industries he gives one last stab at raising the money by taking a chance in the rubber business. But to get his steamboat to the untouched area of rubber trees he will have to find a way of getting his boat over a great mountain.
My new favourite Herzog film and one of my new favourite films in general, and possibly the best of Klaus Kinski's roles i've seen, certainly playing his most likeable characters.
