Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by Mike H — 26 Jan 2012
To watch this movie is to go on a journey with one crazy motherfucker. You feel Fitzcarraldo's joy, anguish, and satisfaction. It's fascinating, and though it drags on in the middle, it's still an extremely impressive achievement.
I'm not a huge fan of Herzog's work ethic. He never uses storyboards and improvises a lot of the script, and I don't think that's how movies should be filmed. But, come on, just the fact that this was filmed at all is remarkable.
