Review of First They Killed My Father (2017) by Sean P — 16 Sep 2017
The Khmer Rouge regime was brutal and this true story reminds, or in some cases, informs us of that, but this film is 2.2 hours of confusion without explaining the historical context of the events. We don't know who is fighting whom or what people are doing for large sections of the film.
The film is told from the perspective of a child and explains this horrific genocide with that level of clarity.
