Review of First They Killed My Father (2017) by Anne A — 17 Sep 2017
This is an amazing movie that shines light onto one of histories least understood tragedies. Shot entirely from the perspective of a five year old girl we follow her from happy home to unbearable loss as her family and country are torn apart.
A movie about the power of community, the power and resilience of the human spirit and the very real dangers of mass political obedience. Jolie's best. I can only hope that more people learn from it so as not to repeat this kind of history again.
Read the book and it's follow up Lucky Child if you enjoy the film.
