Review of First They Killed My Father (2017) by Stefano C — 14 Jul 2018
This is a film about endurance, and that's what you have to do most of the time: endure. The story is skimmed and the camera is losing itself few too many times in the gorgeous eyes of the little protagonist.
We got the message 10 minutes into the movie, so for two hour more is just self flagellation. If in "Unbroken" the message was: the commie Japs are bad" here is "Khmer Rouge are bad too".
Beside all this, the film is still watchable. Spoiler Alert: her father dies.
