Review of First Man (2018) by Joel C — 20 Oct 2018
Those who feel the story was "boring" or "too slow" are missing the point: life is not all action and Armstrong's life was certainly not "perfect". The movie illustrates his humanity - and his personal challenge of being an astronaut, husband and father.
There were some key moments that tied things together nicely - JFK's speech is just one. The story was impartial, factual, and the whole flag controversy is a huge "false flag": America's role was clearly an important aspect of the story (if anyone is offended, we see "United States" scrolling by slowly as Apollo 11 lifts off - chill-worthy).
