Review of First Man (2018) by Heather T — 15 Oct 2018
This movie can be summed up in one word: beautiful! Emotionally, visually,. After setting the scene in the first 30 minutes it really takes off . You can feel the fragility of each mission . Life hanging in the balance.
The real pull for me was the emotional core of the movie, Armstrong's Inner life. Would appeal more to people with kids I think. If you like character studies this is one for you.,but also definitely something for space, history interests.
It's an intimate ride on so many levels. The detail is stunning. I wasn't surprised to later read that the author of the book this is based on was a sticker for accuracy. It really comes across clearly.
The main audience maybe male but there's enough " perfection " and beauty to interest both genders surely.
