Review of First Man (2018) by Evan F — 11 Oct 2018
Great potential, but just fell kinda dead. Gosling's Armstrong was so morose the entire movie that it became as unrealistic as if he had been "up" and perfect the whole movie. The action scenes were beautifully done, believable and amazing, which is what attracted me in the trailers.
The story is focused on the family who support the man and as a story its a wonderful plot line, but this thing just drags between the space and launch scenes as we watch Armstrong and his family struggle with worry and loss.
I think I laughed one time in this movie, but even that moment wasn't memorable. I was very excited about this movie, but it missed the launch window.
