Review of First Man (2018) by Aaron O — 18 Jan 2019
While the story and writing is good, the problem is that you never stop seeing Ryan Gosling - and it could just as easily be his character from Drive.
Combined with aggressive shaky-cam that is distracting in many places, and it's easy to understand why this movie failed to find an audience when it debuted in theaters.
The CGI is all absolutely top-notch, though... so it's not a total bust.
