Review of First Knight (1995) by Nick G — 29 Jan 2011

Fine performances from all of the actors involved (even though Gere doesn't have an accent while everyone else does) but the film has its flaws. Don't get me wrong, I heart me some Sean Connery, but I feel like he just hinders the film.

I just can't see him as King Arthur, but I don't feel it's his fault. I think instead of coming off as Lancelot's brother and Guinevere's lover, he comes off as their father. The whole situation just seems awkward.

However Gere and Ormond have a great chemistry and their scenes are well done. The battle sequences also leave something to be desired. All-in-all, it could've been much better than it was.
