Review of First Blood (1982) by Sean A — 22 Apr 2010
Not as much action as the other films in the series, but had the most substance. Touched on the plight of veterans from the Vietnam War. Rambo both kicks butt and shows some cunning (as opposed to the mindless point-and-shoot that characterized the later Rambo movies).
Ultimately, it is the Colonel (played by Richard Crenna) who had the best performance in this film. His monologue describing Rambo when he first meets the sheriff is probably one of the best all-time movie speeches.
