Review of First Blood (1982) by David G — 17 Nov 2017

I like my Rambo extremely gay and violent, First Blood has neither in any quantity whatsoever. We get a good shower scene towards the beginning of the film with a naked Rambo getting hosed down but that's about it.

When he's running around the forest with his fucking machete creating booby-traps to slow down the rangers, his fucking arms are barely exposed let alone his insane abdominals. And what? There's only one death in the whole film? And it's an accidental preservation guy fucking deserved it death and not an ancillary just for the fuck of it death.

Stallone's impassioned speech towards the end although mostly mumbled gave me goosebumps. The guy barely talked during the film and just explodes at the end with a monologue that goes up there with the greats.

It's quite engaging and not as lunkheaded as the Rambo sequels (not saying much) being quite straightforward in every aspect. Richard Crenna delivered all his lines in an oh yeah fistpump type way.

A GOOD SUPPLY OF BODY BAGS. A great score, shit gets blown up, action films done simply can be so very effective.
