Review of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005) by Bani K — 24 Jun 2012
Near perfection. Complete edition in Blu-Ray is even more stunning. This was my favourite movie until Inception came along. The action scenes and modeling art make me giddy every time. (The movement is still a bit stiff, but I prefer it to the cartoony Western movie animations any day.
) Japanese video games and anime/manga aren't bound by laws of physics--they aren't supposed to be realistic. That's a matter of preference over Asian action physics and realistic. Personally, I find this much cooler.
The sound track is also very good, especially "For the Reunion" and "One-Winged Angel". The story line itself could have been more interesting, but it still pulled me in. I still really like Cloud--despite the people who always call him "emo".
I say he has every right to be like he is--he's pretty messed up. I didn't technically play the FF7, but I knew enough of the basics, and so I enjoyed it immensely. It was made for the fans who've already played the game, so the rotten rating is absolutely useless, especially since all the character development already happened.
Takahiro Sakurai rocks my world (seiyuu of Cloud Strife), with the voice of a god. Next to Kanda Yuu, this is definitely his best role. P.S. "suru suru zuru zuru" doesn't translate well.
Dilly-dally, shilly-shally sounds braindead. The dub is not an option, as usual--of course.
