Review of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005) by Chung M — 16 Sep 2016
Useless film that exists only to provide fanservice. The plot is convoluted and stupid, the characters have no soul and are shoehorned in for their cameos, the battles are OTT, and none of it fits with the tone of the game.
For obvious example, Cloud leaps up skyscrapers on his sword when in the game he gets exhausted walking up the stairs. It can hardly be said that the game was realistic, but when you remove all limits the characters can never feel threatened nor can they be relatable.
Excess produces nothing but some pretty images.
