Review of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005) by Joel G — 29 Dec 2013
Lowsy storytelling. Absolutely no effort to include non-FF fans into the plot or back-story. It's basically a giant CG-fest nerd-gasm for fans of the game, but in no way engaging as it's own film.
Zero character motivation (at least that's explained), Nobuo Uematsu's score is at times epic but mostly just bizarre and not functional as a film score, the rendering of "humans" might be a step up from the last film, but it's all so ridiculously stylized, it just becomes a chore after the first scene.
