Depressing, negative, funny, gruesome and occasionally moving, this is a nihlistic movie in overdrive that doesn't quite tread the fine-line between absurd and genius like Trainspotting before it.
Still McAvoy gives another tour-de-force performance, further enhancing his rep as one of the best young actors of his generation.
