Review of Filth (2013) by Glen G — 05 Nov 2013
A bipolar, bigoted junkie hallucinates his way through the festive season in an attempt to get a promotion and win back his wife and daughter. Baird's film, based on an Irvine Welsh book, certainly has brings the filthy atmosphere implied by the title of decadence and glorious rudeness.
But eventually, all the gags and eccentricities are not enough to hide a lack of a driving plot or the credible tension of a similar film like Ferrara's (or Herzog's) Bad Lieutenant.
