Review of Filth (2013) by Cameron L — 28 Feb 2014
Filth is purely and only a James McAvoy vehicle. If you are a fan you would definitely love his performance as Detective Sgt Bruce Robertson .... dreaming of a promotion to become Detective Inspector Bruce Robertson........ he's so into it he sees his colleagues as competition and would kill his way to the top ...quite literally !!! It opens with a scene where even his wife is hell bent on his promotion....since 'power' sure does turn her on!!!
As the movie progresses and he tries to turn his colleagues against each other in his web of deceit.
With a past he can't forget, wife and daughter related issues, alcohol & drug related issues, a murder case and a prank caller case ... it becomes too much to handle for Robbo or does horny Robbo finally gets what he wants ?!?!
Brilliant performance from McAvoy, the other cast chips in well as well, Jim Broadbent is absolutely annoying [but only cause the role demands it to be...i guess] ....
VeRDiCT - for the Non-James McAvoy fans... I'd say you would still like this movie if you are a fan of Johnny Depp's ' The Secret Window' types!!!
Well I'd say ... I imagined and made up a new ending :) :D .... don't want to spoil the surprise and kill the suspense cause be it James McAvoy or any other such genre movie.......or no matter how much I want to tell you ....
'Same rules apply' !!!!! ;) :D :).
